 [台灣]

台灣尚未成立人權委員會。自1999年，民間成立推動國家人權委員會推動聯盟，透過草擬法案、公眾教育、遊說工作、培訓以及國際區際拜訪等，爭取成立人權委員會。

南韓國家人權委員會曾被認為是亞洲最佳模範人權機構，也一直被國際推動及保護人權之國家機構協調委員會(ICC)評為A級。但在李明博政府管治下，南韓國家人權委員會的獨立性及穩定性受損，亦屢次被質疑無法發揮功能，甚至被質疑無法捍衛自身的獨立性。

[日本]

日本尚未成立人權委員會。政府、政黨與民間團體對人權擁護法案意見分歧，未能獲得通過。爭拗點包括：政府同意人權擁護法案將人權委員會置於律政司之下，民間團體則指出這將會影響人權委員會的獨立性；以自由民主黨為首的反對成立國家人權委員會勢力認為，人權委員會獲過大的調查權，甚為危險，因此竭力阻止通過人權擁護法案。
